Episode Four: Growing Pains
How has the House of Representatives
adjusted to the demands of a growing Australian population, the
increasing complexity and
scope of federal government interests, and a heavier workload?
The film shows how the House has met these challenges through
organisational reform and innovation. Since the 1970s, measures
such as the House committee system and a second legislative
chamber have given Members more opportunities to participate effectively
in the business of the House. Six Members share their personal
experiences of the changing pressures and demands of life in
the
House of Representatives.
