Episode Four: Growing Pains

How has the House of Representatives adjusted to the demands of a growing Australian population, the increasing complexity and scope of federal government interests, and a heavier workload? The film shows how the House has met these challenges through organisational reform and innovation. Since the 1970s, measures such as the House committee system and a second legislative chamber have given Members more opportunities to participate effectively in the business of the House.
